I’m always surprised when people ask me what I put in my smoothies, like it’s a trick question. Because it’s so mind-bogglingly easy to make a smoothie that I can’t believe more people don’t do it.
But without fail, everyday that I get my trustee Nutribullet cup out in the office kitchen I hear “what’s in that?!” …sometimes I really can’t tell if it is with disgust or intrigue.
My most regular breakfast smoothie by has to be my green number. I don’t know if it is because it’s so simple to prep, or because it just tastes so damn good (because it really does) or if it’s because of its holier-than-thou green hue that instantly makes you believe the day has started in the healthiest way humanly possible.
Well, no matter why it is, or whether your interest is born of excitement or skin-crawling repulsion, this is in fact what is inside my fave’ smoothie;
- 1 large handful of fresh spinach
- 1 banana
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla powder
- 1/2 tablespoon of maca powder
- 200 – 250ml of almond milk (I use Rude Health Almond Drink, as it’s my absolute favourite, but you can also use any other kind of milk that tickles your fancy)
Waz it all in a blender and go, go, go until smooth. That’s it team!
I don’t stick religiously to these quantities, if I fancy something more thick I will chuck in less almond milk, or more spinach and if I’m grabbing this bad boy after a gym workout I will also plop in a serving of protein powder (I use Pulsin’ Natural Hemp Protein).
